Mandatory Credit: Tommy Gilligan-Imagn Images The Cleveland Guardians are in agreement on a deal with left-handed starter John Means, The Athletic reported Monday.
An All-Star in 2019 who pitched a no-hitter in 2021, Means is rehabbing from his second Tommy John surgery.
Means, 31, agreed to a contract for 2025 with a club option for 2026, pending a physical, and is expected to report to camp on Tuesday, per the report.
Means was 23-26 with a 3.68 ERA in 78 games (73 starts) for the Baltimore Orioles from 2018-24. He was runner-up for American League Rookie of the Year honors in 2019 and was Baltimore's Opening Day starter in 2021 and 2022.
Means has only made 10 appearances since the 2021 season, including four starts last season before having elbow surgery in June. His first Tommy John surgery was in May 2022.
